HEIghten® Critical Thinking Challenge

In order to meet the academic measurement requirement of 21st century, ETS has a team of researchers and test developers specifically to develop HEIghten® Challenge, which aims to enable colleges and universities to measure the student learning outcomes (SLOs) that are essential for academic success. Some of the examples of SLOs are like critical thinking, quantitative literacy, intercultural competency & diversity, written communication, etc.

HEIghten® Critical Thinking Challenge is the first HEIghten® Challenge that is introduced by ETS, the launching has received international attention and has been widely recognized by the U.S., Korea, Russia, China, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, India and many other countries. Today, you will also find the translated version of HEIghten® Critical Thinking Challenge in Mandarin, Russian, Korean and Spanish.

Starting from 2019, ASDAN China is cooperating with ETS for the organization of HEIghten® Critical Thinking Challenge in China, hoping to extend the expansion of the challenge to more students.

Score Reports

Test-taker Score Reports (Students)

HEIghten® Critical Thinking Challenge (HCTC) is also a tool that enables the student to measure his/her critical thinking skill. Students who complete HCTC will receive a score report. We hope each student use the result to guide their curriculum improvement and to measure growth and development. This score report can also be used as actionable data to show that students have learned the general education skills needed.

Institutional Score Reporting (School)

ETS will give each school a detailed-score report regarding their students’ performance in HCTC. This will not only help your institution to understand the performance level of the test-takers (student) in the institution, and also compare institutional performance using national comparative data. (These data will only be shared within the school, the organizing committee will not share the institutional score reporting of an institution to other institution).
